Do Pilgrims of the Flying Temple
Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple is a slapstick fantasy storytelling game about helping people and getting into trouble.
You tell the story of young travelers who mean well, but spend most of their time getting into trouble. You use your creativity and strategy to create a humorous coming of age story. It’s like a comedic crossover between Avatar: the Last Airbender, the Little Prince and Kino’s Journey.
There’s a great development team behind Do, including editors Ryan Macklin and Lillian Cohen-Moore; artists Liz Radtke, Kristin Rakochy, Dale Horstman, Jake Richmond; and Evil Hat Productions, publishers of Spirit of the Century and the Dresden Files Role-Playing Game. The game also includes adventure seeds by Jared Sorensen, John Wick, Sophie Lagacé, and many more!

Nominated for 2012 ENnie Awards: Best Art (Interior) and Best Game
Jodi’s Note:
This is going to be the gift for teachers for 2011, like Daniel’s Happy Birthday, Robot! was in 2010! I love this, even though I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. It combines simple RPG rules with creative writing. My girls absolutely loved watching the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender, and my eldest’s first stage production was a musical version of The Little Prince, so this is a perfect fit for them and their friends. And it plays in about an hour, so it fits their attention span right now. Great, all around, fun!
Dragon Age Blood in Ferelden
Adventures are the heart of any roleplaying game but GMs on the go don’t always have time to create their own. Blood in Ferelden contains three full-length adventures for the Dragon Age RPG, as well as three adventure outlines whose bare bones can be fleshed out for even more action. The player characters will visit savage borderlands like the Korcari Wilds and Frostback Mountains, as well as facing foes of a different sort in Ferelden’s capital of Denerim. The adventures in Blood in Ferelden are suitable for characters of level 1-5 and add a wealth of detail to any Dragon Age campaign. But be warned: There will be blood!
This product requires the Dragon Age RPG box set.
Dragon Age Box Set 2
The Dragon Age RPG has been called the best introduction to RPGs in 30 years. Set 1 put adventurers on their path and covered characters of level 1 to 5. Now Set 2 brings them to the next stage of their journey, providing everything needed to play characters of level 6 to 10. Its many highlights include rules for playing the legendary Grey Wardens, the introduction of roleplaying and exploration stunts, nearly 40 new spells, expanded world info and character backgrounds, and the addition of specializations like arcane warrior, berserker, and assassin.
Dragon Age RPG Set 2 is a boxed set containing two beautiful full color books (an 80-page Player’s Guide and an 80-page Game Master’s Guide), two different heavy reference cards (with multiple copies of each to share around the table), and a poster map of the world of Thedas depicting Orlais, Rivain, and everything in between.

It also includes a 32-page adventure by Jeff Tidball that can serve as an introduction to the game or as a follow-up to the adventure in the core game. Dragon Age RPG Box Set (Set 1)
A New Age of Fantasy Roleplaying
It has been hundreds of years since the last Blight ravaged the world of Thedas. Many believe that it can never happen again, that the Dragon Age will pass without the rise of such evil. They are wrong. Beneath the earth the darkspawn stir. A new archdemon has risen and with it a Blight that will scourge the lands and darken the skies. The nations of Thedas need a new generation of heroes, but who will answer the call?
Fantasy roleplaying goes back to its dark and gritty roots with the Dragon Age RPG, the latest game from the company that brought you A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying and Mutants & Masterminds. Based on the critically-acclaimed Dragon Age: Origins computer game, the Dragon Age RPG brings the excitement of BioWare’s rich fantasy world to the tabletop. Make your own heroes and control your own destiny as a Blight comes to Thedas once again.
Designed by award-winning author Chris Pramas (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Freeport), Dragon Age features an all-new game system that’s both easy to learn and exciting to play. The boxed set includes:
- A 64-page Player’s Guide with an introduction to tabletop roleplaying, background on Thedas and the nation of Ferelden, a complete guide to character creation, rules for character classes and talents, a primer on magic, and the basic game rules.
- A 64-page Gamemaster’s Guide with an introduction to this key role, advice on the art of game mastering, advanced game rules, and an introductory adventure that plunges the characters right into the world of Dragon Age.
- A beautiful poster map of the nation of Ferelden, the opening setting for the Dragon Age RPG.
- 3 six-sided dice.
The Dragon Age RPG is the perfect portal to tabletop roleplaying. The core system is easy to use and most actions can be resolved with a roll of the dice. Dragon Age also features an innovative stunt system that keeps combat and spellcasting tense and exciting.
So gather your friends, grab some dice, and get ready to enter a world of heroes and villains, of knights and darkspawn, of gods and demons … the world of Dragon Age!
Note: The Dragon Age RPG is being released in a series of four boxed sets, each of which covers five levels of play. Set 1 is for characters of level 1-5. Set 2 will cover levels 6-10, Set 3 will cover levels 11-15, and Set 4 will cover levels 16-20. Each set includes a Player’s Guide and a Game Master’s Guide, and other extras like dice and maps. The sets not only have information on characters, talents, magic items, spells, and monsters, but also source material on Thedas and adventures.
Jodi’s review:
Our family has been playing a Dragon Age minicampaign for a few months now and we all love it. The book for character creation was a bit beyond the girls, but we helped walk them through it. Game play is easy, once you remember to leave your dice on the table after rolling. The best part about this system is the Stunt mechanic. The dragon die result determines the randomness of the stunt points available and really lends a cinemtic flair to the game. Before you know it, you’ll be adding in an extra attack, moving your opponent around to line them up better for someone else, and lowering the cost of the casting.

Eureka 501 Adventure Plots to Inspire Game Masters
Featuring a foreword by gaming industry legend Monte Cook, Eureka contains 501 complete adventure plots usable with almost any roleplaying game, plus GMing advice and tools for making the most of every plot.
If you game once a week, that’s nearly 10 years of adventures, all right here in the largest collection of its kind ever published. Written by nine veteran game masters – the authors of the most widely read game mastering blog on the planet, Gnome Stew – Eureka is more than just adventure seeds.
Each plot includes a hook to draw your players in, an outline detailing enough material for a complete adventure, generally in the form of 3-5 meaty encounters, and any game mastering notes, plot twists, and advice you might need to turn that plot into a fun night of gaming.
Adventure hooks alone don’t give you much to work with, but fully developed adventures can be hard to personalize and fit into an ongoing game. Eureka is the perfect middle ground: We provide the main ingredients, and you decide how to prepare them.
Packed with ideas and inspiration, this massive collection is designed to be the ultimate adventure toolkit:
* Fantasy, science fiction, and horror plots: 167 of each, all easily adaptable to multiple genres
* Clear, concise game mastering advice: We show you how to adapt plots to other genres (effectively giving you 464 fantasy, 420 sci-fi, and 338 horror plots) and how to turn Eureka plots into full-blown adventures
* The tools you need: Plots are grouped by theme, from “Revolt” to “Mistaken Jealousy,” and categorized by tags like intrigue, exploration, and combat-heavy
* Four indexes: Quickly find a plot for any situation by genre, tag, title, or author
* No game mechanics and no proper names: These system-neutral plots are simple to use and easy to personalize to your game
Jodi’s notes:
At GenCon 2010 this was one of those items that Clint and I saw and said to ourselves “Hmm… we’ll get this before leaving.” But they sold out of the preorders! So we had to wait until it released, hungry for the hooks the entire time.
Obviously, this is a non-system specific helper for GMs to run anything. And, as inexperienced a GM as I am, even I could figure out how this would be useful! You could read it from front to back, but I was drawn to the indexes at the back. You name it, you can search for it. You want aliens? There’s like 50 of them. A relationship hook? a 100! Just looking for a new twist on a dungeon crawl? Choose from about 100 of those, too. See what I mean? This book rocks.
Fiasco
THINGS CAN GO WRONG, FAST…
…Maybe some dude from youth group talked you into boosting a case of motor oil, but now your cousin is dead in a swamp and you killed him. Maybe you and your girlfriend figured you could scare your wife into a divorce, but things went pear-shaped and now a gang of cranked-up Mexicans with latex gloves and a pit bull are looking for you.
It seemed like such a good idea at the time.
Fiasco is inspired by cinematic tales of small time capers gone disastrously wrong – inspired by films like Blood Simple, Fargo, The Way of the Gun, Burn After Reading, and A Simple Plan. You’ll play ordinary people with powerful ambition and poor impulse control. There will be big dreams and flawed execution. It won’t go well for them, to put it mildly, and in the end it will probably all go south in a glorious heap of jealousy, murder, and recrimination. Lives and reputations will be lost, painful wisdom will be gained, and if you are really lucky, your guy just might end up back where he started.
Fiasco is a GM-less game for 3-5 players, designed to be played in a few hours with six-sided dice and no preparation. During a game you will engineer and play out stupid, disastrous situations, usually at the intersection of greed, fear, and lust. It’s like making your own Coen brothers movie, in about the same amount of time it’d take to watch one.
Fiasco Companion
The Fiasco Companion is a supplement for the award-winning game Fiasco, a game inspired by cinematic tales of small time capers gone disastrously wrong. The book includes in-depth discussion of common pitfalls and solid techniques for making Fiasco games excellent as well as advice for writing your own Playsets and hacking the rules. In addition, the Companion features exciting rules variants, new Tilt and Aftermath tables and four new Playsets (Fiasco High, Regina’s Wedding, Vegas, and Mission to Mercury).
The book also features a foreword by Wil Wheaton and interviews with an enthusiastic and growing cohort who are already taking the game into the classroom, the writer’s room, and up on stage.
Fortune's Fool: Grimm Tales
Grimm Tales is the first full-length campaign for Fortune’s Fool.
Set in a central Europe bloodied with war, this adventure throws the PCs into a nightmarish struggle between Jacob and Vilhelm Grimm! To save Europe from savage Ottoman hordes, the characters journey to a small town in the Carpathian Mountains to retrieve a fabled magic mirror. But a desperate feud between the two brothers shatters the characters’ plans.
To capture the mirror, the characters must venture into a hellscape where childish fears come to life. It will take more than a trail of breadcrumbs to guide the characters to safety, but with the fate of Europe in their hands, they can’t just sit on their tuffets doing nothing!
